John William Lomax, 21, has been charged with the murder
of University of Connecticut football player Jasper Howard. Police have charged
Lomax with murder and conspiracy to commit assault.
Lomax is accused to stabbing Howard to death October 18 outside
a school-sanctioned dance. Police have also arrested two other men in
connection with the fight that led to Howard’s death. Hakim Muhammad, 20, was
charged with conspiracy to commit assault. Jamal Todd, 21, is charged with
falsely reporting an incident and reckless endangerment. None of the suspects
are students at UConn.
Howard, 20, was stabbed once in the abdomen during a
fight that broke out after Todd pulled a fire alarm and evacuated the dance. A lawyer
for Lomax claims his client was not present when the argument started and tried
to break up the fight, but didn’t stab anyone.
A funeral service for Howard was held Monday in Miami.
No other details about the arrests were available.
