The Balancing Act Wants You to Be Prepared for the Upcoming Flu Season

Vaccinating Against the Flu...

Flu season is approaching, and a thought that crosses most of our minds at this time is... Should I get vaccinated? According to the CDC more than 200-thousand people in the U.S are hospitalized from flu-related complications-- and about 36-thousand people actually die from flu-related causes every year.

Watch The Balancing Act as they’re joined by some very special guests that deal with-- or have dealt with this virus.  Tune in October 28th at 7:30am (EST/PST) as they air on the Lifetime channel. If you ever had questions regarding different strains of the flu virus, preventative care, or vaccinations—you won’t want to miss this show.

Health officials are stressing more than ever the importance of getting vaccinated—especially with the current concern about the H1/N1 virus or swine flu. The Balancing Act has taken the opportunity to invite experts Dr. Gaby Cora from the Executive Health & Wealth Institute, and Susan Gordon a pharmacist at CVS.  Also joining the show is Jennifer Lastinger, board member of the group Families Fighting Flu—her personal story along with the advice of the other experts will give the viewers a better understanding about flu and vaccines.

One significant issue the experts agreed on is the importance of flu vaccinations, and the convenience of retail pharmacies offering the vaccinations. Many people don’t even realize that you can receive your vaccinations, in select pharmacies.  In addition to the convenience of getting the vaccine at the pharmacies-- the pharmacists are also trained and certified to give the vaccination.

The Balancing Act covers many important topics.  Dr. Cora explains the confusion between seasonal flu and the H1/N1 virus.  Pharmacist, Susan Gordon will discuss an initiative that offers convenient options to the public when it comes to getting their seasonal flu vaccines. Jennifer Lastinger, talks about the mission of Families Fighting Flu and why it’s important to convince everyone to get vaccinated against the flu.
