The Dallas Mavericks sent back-up guard Anthony Johnson to the Atlanta Hawks for a second-round draft pick. The move places the 32-year-old Johnson in a Hawks uniform for the third time in his career.
Hawks president Billy Knight was quoted as saying, “He provides us with another veteran presence, and brings a great deal of regular season and postseason experience to our club.” Just how important a guard with postseason experience is on a team that won’t be playing in it remains a mystery.
Johnson played in 40 games for the Mavericks, averaging 14 minutes per contest. He was scoring 3.8 points and 2.0 assists in those games.
The Hawks gave up a second-round draft pick for Johnson, which probably worked in their favor judging by their inability to put together a meaningful draft.
