Owens Corning (NYSE:OC) rallied 6% to $23.57 after it swung to a third-quarter profit of $80 million, or 63 cents a share, from a loss of $807 million, or $6.35 a share, in the same quarter a year ago. On an adjusted basis, earnings in the latest period were 61 cents a share for the maker of building and engineered materials, compared with the year-earlier 57 cents. Revenue for the quarter was $1.35 billion compared to $1.63 billion in the year-ago period.
Owens Corning is a producer of glass fiber reinforcements and other materials for composites and of residential and commercial building materials. The Company operates within two product categories: composites, which include the Composite Solutions segment and building materials, which includes its insulating systems, roofing and asphalt and other building materials and services reportable segments.
