Saturday Night Live is losing another cast member. Fresh off the news that SNL will lose Seth Meyers to Late Night next year, Bill Hader announced his departure. Known for his talent of celebrity impersonations and his Weekend Update character Stefon, Hader starred on 8 seasons of SNL. He will make his final appearance on Saturday’s season finale.
"It was a hard decision, but it has to happen at some point," Hader tells The New York Times. "It got to a point where I said, 'Maybe it's just time to go.'"
Hader, 34, says it was hard to share the news with executive producer Lorne Michaels. “I'd heard stories that you get very emotional in those conversations. And I've had other people tell me, 'Oh, I cried.' I didn't, but I did think I was about to faint,” he admits.
Hader may not be the only loss for SNL - Fred Armisen and Jason Sudeikis are both trying to decide if they will return for another season. “I think they’re making their decisions and we’ll know soon enough,” said Michaels. “You never keep anybody there who doesn’t want to be there, and there is a right time to leave, but it’s more about where they are in their lives.”
