Supermodel and actress Angie Everhart is battling cancer. A rep for Everhart, 43, confirms she is set to undergo surgery for thyroid cancer on Tuesday. The rep says Everhart’s prognosis is “very good” and she hopes to be back to “mommy duties” to her 3-year-old son Kayden very soon.
"Word has been trickling out about [Everhart’s] health. She wants to set the record straight by letting everyone know that it is true that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer; however, the prognosis is very good," her rep said in a statement to Extra. "[She] expects to be back to work and to mommy duties in a few weeks. The most important reason she is revealing this information is to encourage people to learn about cancer prevention, its signs and treatment immediately. [Angie] wants to thank everyone who has heard about it and expressed their support."
No other details about Everhart’s condition were released. The former Sports Illustrated model’s diagnosis comes about 6 months after model and Dancing with the Stars host Brooke Burke revealed she had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She underwent a thyroidectomy in December. “Thank God it's over," she Tweeted at the time. "I'm clean, surgery went well & I can talk. Losing My voice was my biggest fear. Thx for all your prayers & light."
