American Cornhole Organization Announces $20,000 ACO West Virginia Cornhole Cup Tournament

American Cornhole Organization's (ACO) first ACO Master Series Major tournament for Season IX to be held in Charleston, WV

Charleston, West Virginia is known for its natural resources, State Capitol Building and for being the first city to lay a brick road in the U.S. Charleston will now be host to its first ACO Master Series Major and kick off American Cornhole's Season IX tour on September 20-21, 2013. The ACO West Virginia Cornhole Cup will have a guaranteed purse payout of $20,000.00.

“The popularity of this sport is phenomenal,” Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau CEO Alisa Bailey said. “Charleston is becoming known as a competitive sports venue and bringing this event here certainly adds to that reputation.”

 

Cornhole is a game in which players take turns tossing one pound bags at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. This game originated in backyards and has elevated to nationally organized tournaments and leagues. American Cornhole Organization is the governing body to the sport of cornhole and has launched a national campaign to running organized tournaments across the country.

 

The ACO West Virginia Cornhole Cup, located at West Virginia Power Park, is a $20,000 guaranteed payout cornhole tournament. Friday’s tournament will showcase the $5,000 points earning singles event and $4,000 ACO-PRO purse. Saturday’s tournament activity will showcase the $5,000 points earning doubles, which is the final leg to the $4,000 Crew Cup competition, a $1,000 luck of the draw social event and a $1,000 money shot Saturday evening. During Saturday's activity, players will not only be able to enjoy the fine food and beverage options throughout the day but will also be able to kick back and listen to some of Charleston’s best music groups scheduled to take stage throughout the day as part of the Capital City Music Festival.

 

The ACO West Virginia Cornhole Cup I, features a Crew Cup competition that is based on overall crew points earned. A Crew consists of four cornhole players accumulating points based on each player’s finish in the Open Singles and each

of the teams finish in the Open Doubles. The Crew with the lowest overall point total wins the coveted ACO Cornhole Cup.

 

Participants can register for the early bird special of $60 starting July 1st, 2013. Prices will escalate after the early bird special. Participating in the event will grant you a membership to the American Cornhole Organization valued at $20.
