The President of Panama, Martin Torrijos, just visited Washington, DC to promote the recently negotiated Free Trade Agreement between Panama and the United States, and the start of the expansion of the Panama Canal, a vital waterway for seaborne trade that in the next seven years will duplicate its capacity at an investment of $5.25 Billion.

The President unveiled a new tourism adventure map of Panama designed by National Geographic, met with members of U.S. Congress and key administration officials, was guest of honor at a business luncheon hosted by several organizations including the U.S.-Panama Business Council, and met with President George W. Bush. The three-day, two nights whirlwind visit served to reinforce the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries which has been instrumental among others in the great number of Americans relocating, investing, and retiring to Panama or establishing a second home.

Excellent healthcare, good roads, safety, and low cost of living are among the many perks of retiring in Panama. But as if all these factors weren’t enough, the Panamanian government has created a system of benefits for those who retire in Panama. If you are thinking about retiring in Panama, or investing in Panama, take these bullet points in consideration and call Katerina Brosda, Broker Associate with Century 21 Oceanfront Realty in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.
