Florida police believe the person responsible for the
murder of 7-year-old Somer Thompson is still in the community where she went
missing. Authorities urged the public Wednesday to be suspicious of any odd
behavior among the people they known.
Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler says investigators
believe someone in the area is withholding information about the killer. “We
have reason to believe there are individuals in the community who have
information pertinent to this case who have not come forward ... people who may
know or associate with the offender,” Beseler said.
He asked residents to lookout for friends, acquaintances
and relatives who have suddenly left the area, missed work, have unexplained
injuries, changed their appearance or abruptly hidden or sold a car.
Somer, 7, disappeared on October 19 while walking home
from school. Her body was found two days later in a Georgia landfill.
Somer’s funeral and burial was held Tuesday.
