Chely Wright is officially a mom! The country singer gave birth to twin sons in New York City over the weekend. The babies are her first children with wife Lauren Blitzer.
The new moms named their boys George Samuel and Everett Joseph after their great-grandfathers. A rep for Wright says the identical twins are healthy despite arriving more than a month before their due date. “We are grateful for all the amazing medical care and the love and support of family and friends,” Wright tells People magazine.
No other details were immediately available. Wright announced her pregnancy in January in an interview with Howard Bragman on his Youtube show Gwissues. “It’s amazing. We’re excited to be parents and we hope we don’t mess it up too badly!” she joked.
"We feel like God blessed us with twins. We feel our entire relationship has been blessed. We feel lucky and ready to take on the challenges,” Wright told Bragman.
Wright, who came out as gay in May 2010, wed Blitzer in August 2011.
