Kobe Bryant scored 38 points and handed out 9 assists to lead the Los Angeles Lakers (31-25) to a 122-96 blowout of the Boston Celtics (13-41).
The Lakers put up 34 points in the first quarter, 22 of which came from Bryant, and held a 34-30 lead on the woeful Celtics. By halftime the lead was extended to 11 and it had already appeared as if Boston had been resigned to losing their eleventh straight road game.
Los Angeles put the game away in the third period with a 33-20 quarter and head coach Phil Jackson pulled Kobe from the game for good with just over a minute remaining.
The win snapped a six-game skid for the Lakers.
