The Departed Wins Best Picture at Academy Awards
The Academy Award for Best Picture went to Graham King for “The Departed.” The win was King’s first Oscar, he earned his first nomination in 2005 for “The Aviator.”
“The Departed” beat out “Babel,” “Letters from Iwo Jima,” “Little Miss Sunshine,” and “The Queen” for the night’s biggest prize.
It was the fourth Academy Award bestowed on “The Departed.” The film won Best Adapted Screenplay, Achievement in Film Editing, and Martin Scorsese’s long awaited Oscar for Best Director.
