Kentucky Wildcats PG John Walls Cleared to Play, Must Repay Expenses

The NCAA has cleared Kentucky Wildcats point guard John Walls to play after concluding an investigation into possible violations during his recruitment.

While Walls will be allowed to play he must repay nearly $800 in expenses for travel during unofficial school visits while he was a junior in high school. The highly-prized Walls will also be forced to sit out the Wildcats exhibition game against Campbellsville on Nov. 2 and the team’s season-opener against Morehead Sate on Nov. 13.

For several months the NCAA investigated the relationship between Walls and his former AAU coach Brian Clifton after allegations surfaced involving illegal benefits. Clifton had been a certified agent during Walls’ recruitment and the NCAA was examining possible infractions between the two.
