College Football Scores: #4 Iowa Hawkeyes Overcome 6 Turnovers, Drop Indiana Hoosiers to Keep National Title Hopes Alive

Ricky Stanzi managed to throw for 337 yards and two touchdowns despite five interceptions, Brandon Wegher rushed for 119 yards and three TDs and Marvin McNutt had 155 yards receiving and a score as the #4 Iowa Hawkeyes (9-0) overcame six turnovers to knock off the Indiana Hoosiers (4-5) 42-24 on Saturday to keep their national title hopes alive.

Indiana was the first on the board as Darius Willis scored on a 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and that lead was extended to 14-0 in the second when Mitchell Evans caught a 16-yard TD toss from Ben Chappell and the Hoosiers were rolling. Iowa finally managed to find the endzone when Brandon Wegher scored on a 4-yard run but the Hoosiers answered when Damarlo Belcher caught a 9-yard touchdown pass from Chappell with 9 seconds left in the half.

With their offense struggling the Hawkeyes turned to their defense for help and Tyler Sash provided the relief early in the third as he took an interception back 86-yards for a touchdown to get Iowa within 21-14. Indiana was able to push their lead back up to ten though as Nick Freeland kicked a 37-yard field goal and the Hoosiers carried a 24-14 advantage into the final frame.

That fourth quarter was all Iowa as Marvin McNutt got things started with a 92-yard touchdown reception and less than two minutes later Stanzi tossed a 66-yard touchdown pass to Derrell Johnson-Koulianos to give the Hawkeyes their first lead at 28-24. The offense continued to click for the Hawkeyes as Wegher scored on a 6-yard run to make it a two-score game and with 1:12 left in the game he found a hole and went 27-yards for his third touchdown of the game.
