Tim Tebow threw for 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns while adding 84 yards on the ground along with another two TDs, Riley Cooper had 84 yards receiving and two touchdowns and the #1 Florida Gators (8-0) defense forced four turnovers in a 41-17 blasting of the Georgia Bulldogs (4-4) on Saturday.
It didn’t take the Gators long to set the tone as they scored on their opening drive as Tebow hit Cooper on a 22-yard strike. That lead was extended to 14-0 later in the quarter when Tebow and Cooper hooked up once again, this time on a 29-yard strike and Florida was rolling.
The Bulldogs managed to get on the board early in the second as Blair Walsh hit a 49-yard field goal and after the Gators were forced to punt Georgia put more points up as Joe Cox hit Aron White on a 26-yard touchdown to climb within 14-10. That would be as close as it would get as Caleb Sturgis pushed the lead back to seven with a 56-yard field goal and Tebow iced the half with a 26-yard touchdown run to push the score to 24-10. That touchdown run was Tebow’s 50th career TD run, surpassing Herschel Walker on the SEC all time list.
Tebow would make it 51 career rushing touchdowns early in the third quarter as he scored on a 5-yard run following a Joe Cox interception. Georgia tried to hang around and kept it a two-score game following a Cox to Michael Moore 4-yard touchdown pass but the Gators would add a Sturgis field goal and a Brandon Spikes touchdown off an interception in the fourth quarter.
