Donovan McNabb was 17/23 passing for 240 yards and three touchdowns, LeSean McCoy collected 82 yards on the ground and a TD and the Philadelphia Eagles (5-2) defense intercepted Eli Manning twice to hand the New York Giants (5-3) their third straight loss 40-17 on Sunday.
Philadelphia wasted little time putting points on the board as Leonard Weaver scored on a 41-yard touchdown run less than two minutes into the game. It would be just over two minutes later when the Eagles celebrated again as Philly converted a NY turnover into points when McNabb tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Brent Celek and it was 13-0 after the PAT failed.
David Akers pushed the lead to 16-0 in opening ticks of the second quarter when his 30-yard field goal split the uprights. That lead would hold until the final two minutes of the half but the Giants finally got on the board when Manning found Kevin Boss on an 18-yard touchdown pass to get NY within 16-7. Hilly responded immediately though as McNabb hooked up with DeSean Jackson on a 54-yard touchdown with 54 seconds left in the half. NY turned the ball over again and Philly made them pay once more when McNabb hit Jeremy Maclin on a 23-yard TD pass and the Eagles went into the half up 30-7.
Akers extended the lead to 33-7 in the opening of the third quarter but New York answered with a field goal from Lawrence Tynes and then the Giants got a one-yard touchdown run from Ahmad Bradshaw to climb within 33-17 heading into the fourth.
Philadelphia wasn’t about to let the Giants work their way back into the game and LeSean McCoy quickly put things on ice when he broke a 66-yard touchdown run in the opening minute of the fourth and New York was buried.
