Brett Favre returned to Lambeau Field and had a game to remember, passing for 244 yards and four touchdowns while Adrian Peterson collected 141 total yards and a TD and Percy Harvin had 84 yards receiving and a score to go along with 175 yards on five kickoff returns as the Minnesota Vikings (7-1) knocked off the Green Bay Packers (4-3) 38-26 on Sunday.
Green Bay actually opened the scoring in the first quarter as Mason Crosby kicked a 37-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead but those would be the only points the Packers would put on the board in the half. Minnesota grabbed the lead 7-3 late in the first quarter on a one-yard run from Adrian Peterson and extended their lead to 14-3 when Favre hit Visanthe Shiancoe on a 12-yard toss early in the second quarter. The Vikings then got a 41-yard field goal from Ryan Longwell just before the half and went into the break with a 17-3 advantage.
The Vikings looked to be on their way to a blowout when Favre found Percy Harvin on a 51-yard touchdown pass to open the third quarter but the Packers didn’t go away. After Crosby added his second field goal of the game to get Green Bay within 24-6 Aaron Rodgers tossed a pair of touchdown passes to Spencer Havner and by the end of the frame the Packer shad closed their deficit to 24-20.
Favre wasn’t about to let the game get away from the Vikings and pushed the lead back to 11 after finding Jeff Dugan on a 2-yard touchdown pass. Rodgers answered once again though as he hit Greg Jennings on a 10-yard TD pass and the score stood at 31-26 after the two-point attempt failed. Favre then iced the game for the Vikings when he found Bernard Berrian on a 16-yard strike with 3:48 left on the clock and the Packers had no more answers.
