Tanzanian Court Sentences Four to Death for Killing Albino Man

A Tanzanian court has sentenced four men to death by hanging for the killing of an albino man last year, continuing the country’s trend in harsher punishments for such attacks.

In the most recent court ruling the four men had been convicted of murdering the albino man and then removing his head and legs and selling them to witchdoctors. Witchdoctors often make potions from the body parts of albinos and can change thousands of dollars for such concoctions.

At least 50 albino people have been killed in the country over the past two years and those murders have left thousands living in fear. Tanzania has pledged to convict those guilty of the murders and in September three men were sentenced to death for the killing of an albino boy.
