American Idol Contestant, Antonella Barba, Defended by Friend and Hometown

American Idol contestant Antonella Barba has been at the center of controversy for several days after pictures of the 20-year-old aspiring singer surfaced on the internet. The nature of some of those pictures has led many people to question the Point Pleasant, N.J. native’s credentials as an ‘Idol.’ The only problem is the pictures in question are not of Barba, at least that’s what her best friend says.

Amanda Coluccio auditioned for American Idol with Barba and was selected to te second round in Hollywood before being cut. Coluccio, who has been friends with Barba for some time had all the evidence she needed to confirm Barba’s innocence. Telling the Newark, N.J. newspaper, The Star-Ledger, “The really bad ones aren't her. I've studied them, it's not her nose. She's never had (acrylic nail) tips (like the woman in the photo) in her life. She's the least slutty person I know.”

Antonella hasn’t just received the backing of her friends, her town has stepped up for their aspiring ‘Idol” as well. The signs supporting Barba that went up before the scandal hit have not been taken down but have actually grown in number.

Wednesday night Barba will have her chance to perform with the nine other female singers in hopes of making it to the final twelve, six women and six men.
