Restaurant operator Kona Grill Inc. (NASDAQ: KONA) said Monday it has appointed Marc Buehler as CEO, effective immediately, according to Associated Press.

Buehler is a former CEO of LS Management, which owns and operates Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon and the Texas Land and Cattle Steak House restaurant chains. He was at LS until May 2009. He has also worked for Applebee's Inc., Eateries Inc. and Tony Roma's owner Romacorp Inc.
Shares of Kona, based in Scottsdale, Ariz., rose 15 cents, or 5.2 percent, to $3.10 in afternoon trading.
