Desiree Hartsock kicked off her first week as the Bachelorette with two one-on-one dates and one group date. Like always, Chris Harrison arrived at the Bachelor/Bachelorette mansion to explain the date structure and drop off the first one-on-one date card. The date went to Brooks.
Brooks and Desiree jump in her blue Bentley and head into Los Angeles where they make their first stop at a Winnie Couture bridal store. They have fun trying on different tuxes and gowns before settling on outfits for their date. Their next stop is a cupcake truck for a mock wedding cake tasting. After that they make their way to the Hollywood sign to watch the sunset. It’s there that Brooks opens up about his last long relationship and his willingness to endure heartbreak in order to find ‘The One.’ The pair end the night with a romantic dinner and a private Andy Grammer concert. Des gives Brooks the date rose.
The group date goes to Dan, Juan Pablo, Kasey, Zack K., Will, Brian, Drew, James, Mikey, Zak W., Nick, Michael, Brandon and Ben. The guys meet Des at Malibu Rocky Oaks Estate Vineyards. She introduces them to Soulja Boy and reveals that they will be filming a rap music video. Their jungle makes fun of past contestants like Jason Mesnick, Rated R and Wes Hayden. They end the date with a cocktail party and the guys finally get their opportunity for one-on-one time with Des. Zak uses his time to give Des an antique journal to write in, while Brandon uses his time to open up about his tough childhood, and Ben takes the opportunity to go for his first kiss with Des. The date rose goes to Ben.
The second one-on-one date goes to Bryden. Des picks him up in her Bentley and they head out on a mini road trip. They stop at El Matador Beach to fly kites, an orange grove to have a picnic and Ojai Spa and Resort for dinner. Over dinner Bryden opens up about a life changing car accident and joining the military. Des gives him the rose.
At the rose ceremony, Des sends Will, Robert and Nick packing.
