Serial Killer And Rapist Richard Ramirez Dies Of Natural Causes

Richard Ramirez, a serial killer and rapist who became known as the “Night Stalker,” has died. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says the death row inmate passed away of natural causes Friday morning at Marin General Hospital. He was 53-years-old. No other details on Ramirez’ death were available.

Ramirez was dubbed the “Night Stalker” because he often carried out his crimes in the early morning hours. He left satanic symbols at the murder scenes and sometimes had his victims “swear to Satan.” Ramirez violently raped his victims and mutilated their bodies. Some of his victims survived and provided a description to police. After a year-long crime spree, Ramirez was finally identified in August of 1985 and his picture was released to the media. Just days after his identity was revealed, Ramirez was spotted trying to steal a car in East Los Angeles. An angry mob attacked him and he was detained by police.

Ramirez was convicted of 13 murders, 5 attempted murders, 11 sexual assaults and 14 burglaries. He was sentenced to death in 1989.
