French Anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss Dies at 100

Famed French anthropologist Claude Levi-Strauss, considered one of the most influential intellectuals of the 20th century, has died at the age of 100.

 

Levi-Strauss founded the structuralist school of anthropology in the 1950s and developed the ideas of Mythography, Culinary triangle and Bricolage.

 

Among Levi-Strauss’s most famous works were “The Savage Mind” and “The Raw and the Cooked” as well as the classic “Tristes Tropiques.
