North Dakota authorities are looking for three Dickinson State University Softball players who have been missing since Sunday. Police say Kyrstin Gemar, 22, Afton Williamson, 20, and Ashley Neufeld, 21, were last seen about 10: 45 p.m. Sunday.
A friend of the trio received two phone calls from them in which they were hysterical and mentioned water. Both calls ended abruptly. The friend contacted authorities, who used the call to determine where Gemar, Williamson and Neufeld were when it was placed.
Airplanes and ground searchers were being used to comb over the rural area where the women are thought to be. Dive teams are searching a nearby lake.
Gemar’s father told Good Morning America that his daughter and her friends often went out to the lake to stargaze and talk. Police do not suspect foul play. “It comes across as sounding more like an accident of some time,” said Dickenson police officer Thomas Groaz.
No other details were available.
