With Kim Kardashian and Kanye West expecting a baby in the coming weeks, Internet entrepreneur Trent Silver has launched a crowdfunding project to raise funds for an extravagant baby gift: a diamond-encrusted high chair. Spurred on by news that Jay-Z and Beyonce had purchased a $15,000 crystal-encrusted high chair for their baby, Silver is doing his part to be sure the Kardashian baby is able to have bragging rights over other celebrity babies.
“If Beyonce’s baby gets crystals, I think Kim Kardashian’s baby needs diamonds,” Silver said. “I wouldn’t want little Kimye growing up in Hollywood with an inferiority complex.”
Silver is crowdfunding the bedazzled highchair on ClickStartMe, and is attempting to raise $1 more than the cost of Jay-Z and Beyonce’s highchair. Kanye and Kim fans can donate as little as $5 to get their name on a giant birthday card to be delivered with the high chair. “And five donors to my crowdfunding project will be selected to come with me to deliver the high chair, and the card, when the baby is born.”
Characteristically, Silver has added a charitable angle to his crowdfunding effort. “Every dollar over $15,001 I raise will be donated to Kim and Kanye’s charity of choice, the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, and used in their Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to care for critically-ill babies,” Silver says. “And if the fans do not come through and fully fund this, I will still deliver the giant birthday card to Baby Kimye, and I will donate all of the money after expenses to the children’s hospital.”
