The boyfriend of Jiah Khan was arrested Monday evening for allegedly abetting the suicide of the Bollywood actress. The arrest of Suraj Pancholi, the son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, came after a suicide note from Khan was discovered. In the note, Khan accuses Pancholi of physical abuse, rape and forcing her to have an abortion.
"I was scared of getting pregnant but I gave myself completely the pain you have caused me everyday has destroyed every bit of me, destroyed my soul. I can't eat or sleep or think or function. I am running away from everything," Khan wrote.
The 25-year-old’s body was found by her mother last Monday at her Mumbai apartment. Authorities say she committed suicide by hanging herself. Pancholi was the last person Khan spoke to on the phone before her death.
Khan, whose real name is Nafisa Khan, made her big screen debut in 2007’s Nishabd. She later appeared in Ghajini in 2008 and Housefull in 2010.
Neither Pancholi nor his parents have commented on his arrest.
