Shaquille O’Neal scored a season-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Miami Heat (28-29) past the Washington Wizards (31-25) 92-83.
Shaq scored 10 of his 23 in the fourth quarter to bring the Heat to within one game of .500 and kept their playoff hopes alive. Jason Williams stepped it up for the Heat and scored 23 points in Dwyane Wade’s absence while Udonis Haslem finished with 12 points and 16 boards.
The Wizards appeared lost without their leader Atawn Jamison and All-Star Caron Butler. Gilbert Arenas had a miserable shooting night, hitting just 3-18 from the field including 0-8 from beyond the arc.
