Just three days ago the Maryland Terrapins (23-7) appeared as if they had their ticket punched to the NCAA Tournament after being the then #5 North Carolina Tar Heels and after tonight’s 85-77 win over the #14 Duke Blue Devils (22-8) they can start packing their bags.
The Terrapins got 26 points from Mike Jones and D.J. Strawberry added 19 points as Maryland swept the series with their ACC opponent.
With the score tied 64-64 with just under six minutes remaining the Terrapins went on a 7-0 spurt to take control. Duke was able to pull back to within three but Maryland’s defense clamped down on the Blue Devils.
