North Dakota authorities found three Dickinson State
University softball players dead in a Jeep submerged in a rural pond. Kyrstin
Gemar, 22, Afton Williamson, 20, and Ashley Neufeld, 21, were last seen about
10: 45 p.m. Sunday.
A friend of the trio received two phone calls from them
in which they were hysterical and mentioned water. Both calls ended abruptly.
The friend contacted authorities, who used the call to determine where Gemar,
Williamson and Neufeld were when it was placed.
The Jeep was found Tuesday in about 10 feet of water. Autopsies
are planned.
Stark County Sheriff Clarence Tuhy said the women may
have accidentally driven into the pond because the water is hidden by tall
grass. They often went stargazing at the pond, according to Gemar’s father.
