Facebook’s Growing Relationship with Small Businesses

Finance World News Update from EQUITIES Magazine

Facebook gets a lot of traffic: over 300 million people have signed up for the social networking site, and one in two of those users visit Facebook daily. Now, companies are “getting” Facebook also--with the new “business pages” feature. Businesses can make a profile on the website, post status updates and even have “friends”—the only difference being that businesses’ “friends” are called “fans”.

In New York last month, Facebook CEO Sheyl Sandberg said that every day, 10 million people become fans of these pages. The numbers Facebook provides--1.4 million business pages, each with an average of 100 fans--means a having a business page can draw a huge number of potential customers.

Facebook’s business pages are quickly becoming an inexpensive marketing tool for small businesses. Business pages can not only improve a company’s online presence and indexing capabilities, but also the company can benefit from being listed under Facebook’s trusted domain.
