The rumors are true – Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are expecting a baby boy. Martinez confirmed the rumors on Wednesday while walking the red carpet of Champs-Elysées Film Festival.
“My son will be an American, but I remain French,” Martinez told People magazine.
A rep for Berry announced her pregnancy in April. "We can confirm that Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez are expecting a child. We will not be commenting on or confirming any additional details," her rep said at the time.
Later that month the actress admitted that the baby news came as a big surprise. "This has been the biggest surprise of my life, to tell you the truth. Thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful,” she said.
The baby is due this fall. It will be the first child for Martinez and the second for Berry, who is already mom to 5-year-old daughter Nahla with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
Berry, 46, and Martinez, 47, met on the set of Dark Tide in 2010. They confirmed their engagement in early 2012.
