GM Recalls SUVs For Possible Fire Hazard

Nearly 200,000 SUVs have been recalled by General Motors for a fire risk. According to the car maker, an electronic module in the driver’s door could short a circuit and spark a blaze. The recall includes 194,000 2005 to 2007 model year SUVs in the United States.

“Fluid may enter the driver’s door module, causing corrosion that could result in a short in the circuit board. A short may cause the power door lock and power window switches to function intermittently or become inoperative. The short may also cause overheating, which could melt components of the door module, producing odor, smoke, or a fire,” the U.S. Department of Transportation said in a statement.

Owners are being advised to park their vehicles outdoors since a fire could be sparked when the vehicle is not running.

The recall includes: 2005 – 2007 SAAB 9-7x, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL, and 2006 – 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier and Isuzu Ascender SUVs.
