Desiree Hartsock and her remaining bachelors left their L.A. mansions and began their journey around the world. The group made their first stop in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The first date goes to Brad, a single dad who is raising his son alone. Desiree hopes to see a more carefree side of Brad on their date to the Steel Pier, and she does on the first half of the date. They have fun riding the rides and sampling candy, but at dinner later conversation is awkward and Des is not feeling it anymore. She sends him packing, explaining that a natural spark was missing in their relationship.
The group date goes to Brooks, Bryden, Zack, Kasey, Drew, Juan Pablo, Zak, Mikey, Ben, Michael, and Chris. Des and Chris Harrison meet the group at Boardwalk Hall. Harrison reveals they will be putting on their down Mr. America pageant. After allowing the guys some time to prepare, Harrison returns with the news that they will be doing the pageant in front of an audience. They guys have fun with the competition and don’t take any of it too seriously. Kasey is crowned Mr. America while Zak takes first runner up and Brooks takes second runner up. At a poolside cocktail party later, Des is impressed most by Chris and Zak. She finds common ground with Chris over their love of writing poetry, but it’s Zak that earns the date rose for singing to her.
The final date goes to James. Des takes him on a helicopter tour of the New Jersey coastline that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. Once they land, their Red Cross tour guide takes them to meet a couple who lost their house in the storm. Des and James end up giving Manny and Jan their fancy date. They head to a local restaurant where James decides to share something personal with Des. He reveals that she cheated on a girlfriend in college. After being reassured that he would never cheat again, Des gives him the date rose.
Before the rose ceremony, Bryden pulls Des aside and admits he is unsure about his Bachelorette journey. Des tries to put his concerns to rest and expresses her desire for him to stay. Bryden accepts a rose at the rose ceremony after a slight hesitation. Des sends Zack packing.
