Justin Timberlake, Samuel Jackson and Christina Ricci hit the Big Screen in "Black Snake Moan"

Justin Timberlake, Samuel Jackson and Christina Ricci will hit roll out their new film, “Black Snake Moan,” this weekend and from the buzz surrounding the flick they should total some impressive numbers.

“Black Snake Moan” casts Ricci in another role that seems custom made for the 27-year-old actress. Ricci’s character roles in films such as “Monster,” “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” and “Prozac Nation” has displayed an uncanny ability to capture the obscure. With that in mind she may have taken on the most ethereal character yet in “Black Snake Moan” but fortunately Ricci once again develops her character, Rae, into a tangible presence for moviegoers.

Rae is a nymphomaniac who has found some solace in her relationship with Ronnie (played by Justin Timberlake) but when he is shipped off to boot camp Rae needs her fix. Turning to any guy that will have her Rae quickly finds herself beaten and bloodied and left for dead on the side of the road after a long night of partying with the wrong crowd.

Lazarus (portrayed by Samuel Jackson), is coming off his own rough spell. After his wife left him for a younger man Lazarus abandons his musical prowess as a bluesman and adopts misery and contempt as a new way of life. Walking off a long night of drinking Lazarus discovers Rae, near dead, on the side of the road.

It becomes clear to Lazarus that the way to redemption is through the transformation of Rae. Of course that entails chaining her to his radiator and quoting bible passages but whatever works.

The story in and of itself is worth going just to watch it develop.
