Rihanna is not afraid to defend herself when the need arises. The singer proved that on Monday when she whacked a clingy fan with her microphone at a Diamonds World Tour concert in Birmingham, England.
A video of the incident shows Rihanna and her security guards walking along a row of screaming fans as she sang “We Found Love.” When one fan grabbed her hand and tried to pull her back, Rihanna struck out with her microphone before the security guards could react. The person let go and Rihanna continued singing.
The Huffington Post reports that the 25-year-old refused to apologize when asked about the incident on Twitter. "Purpose! That b— won't let me go," she wrote.
The fan involved has not been identified and has not commented. No other details were immediately available.
Rihanna plays Thursday in Sunderland, England at Stadium of Light, and then again on Friday at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.
