Actor Edward Furlong is facing up to 4 years in prison for an assault on his girlfriend last month. Authorities in Los Angeles say Furlong, who also has two pending misdemeanor battery cases, was arraigned Tuesday. He pleaded not guilty.
Furlong has been charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor in connection with the May 21 incident in which he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at her West Hollywood home, damaged a laptop and photo gear, and threatened her about calling authorities. At the time of the assault, Furlong was under a restraining order.
Furlong is being held on $100,000 bail. A hearing has been set for July 1.
The troubled actor has a long history of drug abuse and run-ins with the law. He has previously spent time in rehab and been arrested for driving without a license, DUI, public intoxication and violating a restraining order obtained by his estranged wife Rachel Bella. Bella filed for divorce in 2009 after 3 years of marriage. She received a restraining order against the 35-year-old the following year due to his violent behavior. At the time, Bella told the court Furlong threatened to have someone beat her with chains and a baseball bat. She also claimed that he confessed to hitting their then 4-year-old son’s testicles.
Furlong is perhaps best known for his roles in Terminator 2, American History X, The Green Hornet and For The Love of Money. He last appeared in the 2012 Canadian horror film Below Zero.
