James Gandolfini once helped John Travolta’s family through the most difficult time in their life, and now Travolta has the opportunity to repay Gandolfini in kind. In an interview with Good Morning America, Travolta revealed Gandolfini who went out of the way to support him after the 2009 death of his 16-year-old son Jett Travolta.
"James went out of his way to come to Florida and he would not leave Florida until I was okay, or he felt that I would be fine. After a week I said, 'Jim you can really, you can, you know, we'll be fine. I've got a lot of support here,'" the actor revealed. "But the idea that in our profession someone would go out of their way and not want to leave you until he felt you were okay, that's the kind of soul that James Gandolfini was. He was a people person first, and then everything else."
Travolta, 59, said his goal now is “to make sure that his family is okay. "His little boy, I watched him grow up, and his brand new little girl. We'll just make sure they're taken care of. That's the whole idea,” he adds.
Gandolfini died of an apparent heart attack Wednesday night in Rome. The Sopranos actor is survived by his wife Deborah Lin, their 9-month-old daughter Liliana, and his 13-year-old son Michael from his previous marriage to Marcy Wudarski.
