12 Killed, 31 Wounded in Fort Hood Shooting

Fort Hood spokesman Lt. Gen. Bob Cone says 11 people plus a gunman were killed and 31 wounded at a shooting on base. The gunman was a soldier. Two other soldiers are being held as suspects.

The names of the dead, the wounded and the suspects have not been released. Investigators believe more than one shooter may have been involved.

The shooting occurred at the sports dome. No other details were available.

Fort Hood, located near Killeen, Texas, is the Army’s largest United States post with about 40,000 troops.

President Obama called the shooting “tragic” and “a horrific outburst of violence.”
