Aaron Hernandez Arrested In Murder Investigation, Charges Not Yet Revealed

Just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Massachusetts police arrested New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez at his home in North Attleborough in connection with the murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Hernandez, wearing a white t-shirt and red athletic shorts, was led out of his home in handcuffs by seven police officers. He was put inside a police cruiser and transported to N. Attleborough Police Station to be booked.

State police confirmed Hernandez’s arrest, but refused to say what the 23-year-old is being charged with. “We are not releasing the charge against Hernandez until it is presented to the court. Again, he will be arraigned in Attleboro Court today,” Massachusetts State Police tweeted this morning.

Reps for Hernandez have not commented.

Odin Lloyd, a Boston Bandits player and friend of Hernandez, was found dead in an industrial park a mile from Hernandez’s home on Monday, June 17. Later that day, Hernandez reportedly destroyed his video surveillance and cell phone and hired professional cleaners to clean his home. Police searched Hernandez’s property at least 3 times in the investigation.

Hernandez was drafted by the Patriots in 2010. He signed a 5 year, $40 million contract with the team last year. The Patriots have refused to comment on his current legal trouble. “I am aware of the reports, but I do not anticipate that we will be commenting publicly during an ongoing police investigation,” Patriots spokesman Stacey James previously said.
