College Basketball AP Top 25: #3 Kansas Jayhawks Stage Second Half Comeback to Beat the #15 Texas Longhorns

The #3 Kansas Jayhawks (27-4) had to overcome a 16-point deficit to beat the #15 Texas Longhorns (22-8) 90-86 and capture the Big 12 regular season title.

There was little the Jayhawks could do to stop Kevin Durant in the first half. The sensational freshman put 25 points on the board on 10 of 14 shooting for the Longhorns as they went to the locker room with a 54-42 lead.

It all changed after the break as the Jayhawks opened the second half on a 22-7 run and grabbed the lead 64-61 with a little more than four minutes past. Any shot of Texas grabbing the win went down when Durant went to the floor with an ankle injury with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game.

Kansas was able to put together an11-2 run and with five minutes remaining the Jayhawks were never really threatened after the spurt.

Mario Chalmers led the Jayhawks with 21 points while Julian Wright added 17 and grabbed 13 rebounds. Kansas was able to hit 11 of 16 from beyond the three-point arc and grabbed 10 more boards than the Longhorns,

Kevin Durant led Texas with 32 points and 9 rebounds but was rendered ineffective after the ankle injury.
