Colorado Heights Camping Resort named Employer of the Year by Workamper News
Owners Richard and Stacey Biggs were nominated by 13 of their Workampers
The recipients of the 2009 Employer of the Year award presented by Workamper® News is Richard and Stacey Biggs, owners of the Colorado Heights Camping Resort in Monument, Colorado. The Biggs were nominated by 13 of their employees known as Workampers.
Richard and Stacey are relatively new owners of Colorado Heights, a Coast-to-Coast RV resort nestled in the pines of Monument Hill. Although, they are well known by members and repeat Workampers. They purchased the resort from Richard’s parents and have made many improvements, third-season Workampers Bill and Jane Anglin said. “The resort is beautiful, but it is the owner-operators who make the difference,” the Anglins said.
The Workampers who nominated the Biggs all mentioned how they are treated like family and appreciate how Richard and Stacey will accommodate Workampers’ needs and special situations. “An atmosphere of cooperation and camaraderie permeates. Workampers are not only genuinely supportive of one another, but of management as well,” the Anglins said. “Although Stacey and Richard are younger than all but one of their employees, they have the respect of ALL.”
This employer was chosen by the Workamper® News staff out of 11 nominations sent in this year after the contest was announced in the Workamper® News July/August 2009 issue. The Biggs will receive a special mention in the Workamper® News November/December 2009 issue, as well as a framed certificate.
This is the twelfth year for this award, which recognizes employers who provide an exemplary environment for the Workamper® experience. Workampers are adventuresome singles/couples who enjoy a lifestyle that combines a variety of interesting work opportunities with RV living. Other previous winners include: St. Cloud Campground & RV Park (Minnesota), Cortez/Mesa Verde KOA (Colorado), Adventureland Amusement Park (Iowa), Normandy Farms Campground (Massachusetts), St. Paul East KOA (Minnesota) and Denali Park Hotel (Alaska).
