INTERIOR REDESIGN BY SIMPLY PUT INTERIORS SOLVES DECORATING DILEMAS
LIVING ROOM MAKE-OVER CREATES PURPOSE, FUNCTION & APPEAL, IN A DAY
In early February, when Colleen tuned into NBC affiliate, WBAL-TV 11 Saturday Morning, she did not realize it would change her life. On that day, a Living Room Redesign by Paula Henry of Simply Put Interiors was featured. Henry shared challenges and solutions that transformed a bleak living room into one with function and sophistication, on a budget. Many viewers, including Colleen, realized they did not have to spend a fortune to get the look they were seeking. Says Henry, “It is all in the details…people tend to buy what they like, bring the goodies home and call it a day. The trick is knowing what to do with what you’ve got including furniture and its placement.”
Simply Put Interiors was called in to rescue Colleen’s Living Room. To do so required an understanding of what the homeowner wanted from the space. “Homeowners are able to tell you what they do and don’t like about a space. It is my job to hear what they are saying and give them the result they desire,” says Paula Henry. “My philosophy is to honor the homeowner, so I need to know how they use a room, what must stay and what must go,” continues Henry.
On the day of this Living Room Redesign, Henry emptied to room of all furniture and accessories. In doing do, she is better able to assess the space and determine a focal point. Henry works a system when reintroducing furniture to a room, starting with the largest piece, in this case a sofa. From there, she adds chairs, bookshelves, tables, large plants, lamps and finally, artwork and accessories, including finds from other areas of the home. “We were able to solve all of Colleen’s decorating dilemmas and give her a space she couldn’t wait to come home to,” says Henry. “We created an entertainment center within the problem niche using a set of shelves, thus creating a focal point. The new furniture placement, made the room seem much larger and we even created a separate library/reading area.”
The final Living Room Redesign left the homeowner speechless. She couldn’t believe how good her things could look and was amazed to have a new room the same day. “That is the glory of Redesign,” comments Henry. “In most cases, the Redesign is finished in less than a day and is much less expensive than buying a whole new room of furniture.”
