David Beckham injured his right knee during Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Spanish league opponent Gestafe. The extent of the injury was unknown but Beckham will undergo tests on Monday to determine the severity.
The former captain of the English national team is under contract with Real Madrid through June 30. Beckham signed a five-year deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy worth around $27.5 million in base salary and is expected to begin play for his American squad in August.
Beckham’s contract with the MLS set headlines ablaze and brought the league a true cover boy for its league. Since his signing with the Galaxy, Beckham along with wife Victoria Beckham have spent plenty of time in Los Angeles shopping and visiting new friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.
How long the knee injury will sideline the 31-year-old star may be determined after tests.
