British Tourist Killed in Texas Bar Shooting

A 28-year-old British tourist visiting the United States was shot and killed Thursday night after a man entered a bar in Amarillo, Texas and opened fire.

In a statement released by the family of Thomas Reeve it was noted that he was only visiting the city “because he liked the song (Tony Christie’s “Is This The Way To Amarillo”).

Reeve had just arrived in the city that day and had been at the Spotted Pony Lounge with two friends for just a short time before a man came in and began shooting. A 48-year-old man was also shot in the attack and a woman was reportedly sexually assaulted.

A massive manhunt by police led to the arrest of a 25-year-old man. Police have not released a motive for the shooting but it was reported that the man had been in the bar earlier that day and there may have been an incident that led him to return.

Reeve leaves behind a nine-month-old daughter.
