Colt McCoy was 33/42 passing for 470 yards and two touchdowns, Jordan Shipley had 273 yards receiving and a TD on 11 catches and Cody Johnson had a pair of touchdown runs in the second quarter as the #2 Texas Longhorns (9-0) rolled over the Central Florida Knights 35-3 on Saturday to keep their national title hopes in sight.
After a scoreless first quarter the Knights grabbed a 3-0 lead in the second on a 39-yard field goal from Nick Cattoi but that would be all UCF would get as the Longhorns responded in a big way. Cody Johnson put Texas in front 7-3 on a 20-yard run and six minutes later Johnson was standing in the endzone again, this time on a 13-yard run and Texas carried a 14-3 advantage into the half.
McCoy got in on the scoring act late in the third quarter when he found James Kirkendoll on a 14-yard touchdown pass the Longhorns had complete control of the game.
In the fourth quarter McCoy found Shipley on an 88-yard touchdown pass for his second TD pass of the game and four minutes later Foswhitt Whittaker wrapped up the scoring with a 6-yard run.
