Peyton Manning was 34/50 passing for 318 yards and a touchdown, Dallas Clark had 119 yards receiving on 14 catches and Joseph Addai had 112 total yards and a pair of TDs as the Indianapolis Colts (8-0) capitalized on a missed field goal late in the game to knock off the Houston Texans (5-4) 20-17 on Sunday.
Addai put the Colts in front 7-0 in the first quarter after scoring on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Manning and that lead was extended to 10-0 when Matt Stover connected on a 22-yard field goal. Stover pushed the advantage to 13-0 in the second quarter but the Texans managed to get on the board at the end of the half as Kris Brown kicked a 56-yard field goal to get Houston within 13-3.
Houston cut their deficit to 13-10 midway through the third quarter when Matt Schaub found Ryan Moats on a one-yard TD toss and early in the fourth the Texans grabbed a 17-13 lead when Steve Slaton scored on a one-yard run. That lead held for about five minutes but Addai put the Colts back in front 20-17 when he scored from 2-yards out.
The Texans had a shot at tying the game late in the fourth but Brown’s 42-yard field goal attempt was no good and the Colts kept their perfect record intact.
