Tom Brady was 25/37 passing for 332 yards and a touchdown, Randy Moss had 147 yards receiving and a score and Stephen Gostkowski kicked four field goals as the New England Patriots (6-2) beat the Miami Dolphins (3-5) 27-17 on Sunday in an AFC East showdown.
Miami was the first on the board as Dan Carpenter gave the Dolphins a 3-0 lead with a 52-yard field goal but the Patriots answered and took the lead 7-3 on a one yard touchdown run from Laurence Maroney. That lead was extended to 10-3 when Gostkowski kicked a 30-yard field goal but Ricky Williams pulled the Dolphins even at 10-10 when he scored on a 15-yard run. Gostkowski managed to put a pair of field goals through the uprights in the final three minutes of the half though and the Patriots went into the break with a 16-10 advantage.
The Dolphins reclaimed the lead in the third quarter when Ronnie Brown tossed a one-yard touchdown pass to Joey Haynos but one minute later Tom Brady hit Randy Moss on a 71-yard touchdown pass and the Pats were back in front 24-17 following a two-point conversion.
Gostkowski then gave the Patriots some breathing room in the final minute of the game when he kicked his fourth field goal of the game, a 40-yarder to seal the outcome.
