The New York Jets believe they have found their answer to one of the worst rushing offenses in the NFL last season. Dealing their 37th pick overall in the upcoming NFL draft to the Chicago Bears, the Jets have landed running back Thomas Jones and the Bears 63rd overall pick.
After using a trio of backs last season the Jets managed just 3.5 yards per carry and totaled 1758 yards and 15 touchdowns for the season. Jones led the Bears backfield last year with 1210 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 4.1 yards per carry.
Jones had been unhappy with the way the Bears had been dealing with his contract and requested a trade early in the off season. Chicago still has Cedric Benson to feature; he rushed for 647 yards and six touchdowns on nearly half the amount of carries of Jones.
The NFL is expected to approve the trade on Tuesday.
