NBA Scores: Miami Heat Move Over .500 With Win Over Atlanta Hawks
The Miami Heat (30-29) used a 13-2 run in the fourth quarter to get past the Atlanta Hawks (22-39) 88-81 and moved over .500 for the first time since mid November.
Eddie Jones scored 21 points and Shaquille O’Neal finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds as the Heat improved to 18-10 at home, including nine straight.
Atlanta grabbed a 49-48 lead in the third quarter but the Heat responded with an 11-5 run to close the period with a 59-54 advantage.
In the fourth quarter the Hawks cut their deficit to five but Miami began their deciding run with just over six minutes remaining. Gary Payton finished with 11 points and 7 rebounds and Alonzo Mourning added 7 points and 9 rebounds in the win.
Josh Smith led the Hawks with 16 points and 7 rebounds.
