Federal Investigators Set To Arrive In Alaska To Investigate Deadly Plane Crash

Federal investigators are set to arrive in Alaska today to begin the investigation into Sunday’s deadly plane crash on the Kenai Peninsula. The crash involved an air taxi operated by Rediske Air.

Authorities say the single-engine de Havilland DHC-3 Otter was taking off from the Soldotna Airport with 10 people on board when it “struck the runway and burned” around  11:20 a.m. on Sunday. "There were 10 souls on the aircraft and all perished," confirmed a captain with the Central Emergency Services.

All 10 bodies have been recovered and are in the process of being identified by the medical examiner. One body has reportedly been identified as that of 42-year-old pilot and Rediske Air co-owner Walter Rediske. The passengers are all believed to be from South Carolina.

No other details were immediately available.
